Fine arts majors at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design are urged to develop self-motivation and independent thinking through focused courses in painting, drawing, sculpture, digital media and printmaking. Our fine arts curriculum has been developed to better prepare our fine arts graduates for the traditional career of an exhibiting artist, to further their education at the graduate level or to pursue employment in related applied art fields. Students further expand their knowledge and experience as an arts professional through a required internship upon successful completion of the junior portfolio review. Practical information about the business of art is taught in the professional practices courses, which are designed to help the student/artist function and thrive as an independent professional artist.
Fine Arts department faculty members are all working artists who exhibit nationally, serve as professional art judges, publish illustrations, and design products. They will inspire you to develop an individual creative vision through small classes and individualized instruction.
