Marc Burckhardt: Fables, Musicians and Natural Wonders
January 27 - March 2, 2012
Opening Reception with the artist on First Friday February 3 from 5 - 9 p.m.
Whether it is a portrait of an iconic musician, a fantastically elongated cow, or an intricately painted still life of a snail creeping over a skull, Marc Burckhardt's paintings are the perfect combination of imagination and reality. This Ausitin, Texas based painter’s distinctive style has been informed by Folk Art, Flemish paintings, Byzantine Icons and American blues and country music. Burckhart’s symbolically rich and technically beautiful illustrations are often created for clients such as Rolling Stone, Simon & Schuster, Comcast and Vanguard Records. He has also illustrated several children’s books including Momma Loves Her Little Son by John Carter Cash.
