Jenn Blaisdell's work was part of "Beyond the Second Dimension: A Sculpture and Installation Project" at Painted Desert Gallery in July 2010.

 

2009

 

Kelly Lynd - Photography

 

Kelly recently learned that her work will be included in the YEA! Yo Emerging Artists Project. The exhibition includes 42 artists who will be exhibiting work at Gloucester County College starting on Friday, October 22, 2010.

 

 

Ashley Reid - Graphic Design

 

Ashley Reid's "It's My Verb" was the concept selected for a student-only, AIGA-sponsored campaign. The campaign is meant to excite, educate, and inspire design students throughout Central Pennsylvania. It is intended to help students from surrounding universities connect with one another. The campaign provides an opportunity for students to share their thoughts and opinions on design, as well as industry trends. AIGA Central PA's goal is that "It's My Verb" will open lines of communication through various outlets and allow the students to not only share what they are seeing but also inspire one another in their excitement for design. (October 8, 2009)

 

Samantha Root - Fine Arts

 

Samantha Root won an Award of Excellence in York Arts’ 2009 Emerging Visions: A Juried Showcase of Top Undergraduate Artists. Elaina Posey '09 and Evan Tyler Stallone '09 were also juried into the show.

 

Evan Stallone - Fine Arts

 

During May 2010, Evan Stallone had an exhibit in Lancaster's Painted Desert Gallery. An article featuring Evan and the exhibit was in Lancaster’s Sunday News.

 

2008

 

Scott Hawxhurst - Fine Arts

 

Scott Hawxhurst was featured in “Reaching for the Stars”, Central PA Magazine, August 2009. The featured highlighted talented creators and performers under the age of 25.

2007

 

 Amy Beard - Fine Arts

 

Amy Boone-McCreesh (Amy Beard) is currently a candidate for her MFA at Towson University in MD. She recently curated a Yorkarts exhibit, entitled "Multidimensional Materiality." She will be curating a show at Maryland Art Place for the Curator’s Incubator Program in 2011. www.mdartplace.org. She is also participating in the exhibit POMP at the H&H building in Baltimore. The opening reception was on August 21, 2010, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at 5th Dimension (H&H), 405 W. Franklin Street, Baltimore, MD.

 

2006

 

Jennifer Davis - Graphic Design

 

Jennifer is working at Cline, Davis, & Mann. It’s an awarding-winning agency, located in Princeton, NJ. She’s currently working as a senior copywriter on a product called Intuniv. Their ads have been online and they’ve been doing a viral campaign on search engines.

 

She also won a Medical, Marketing, and Media (MM&M) award for best detail ad. The piece is a visual aid used with physicians to explain a medication that she worked on at Ogilvy. In addition, Jennifer is particularly proud of an ad that has been in Shape magazine, Vogue, and several other magazines.

 

Andrew Zubko - Illustration

 

Congratulations Andrew! Andrew was recently hired by LAIKA, the animation company in Portland, Oregon, that produced the Academy Award nominated stop-motion animated film, Coraline. He is now working on their next stop-motion animated feature film, which has not yet been announced.

 

Andrew illustrated a cover in May 2010 for Portland Mercury. The idea, chosen by readers in an online poll, features Betty White holding a flaming chainsaw riding John Ritter. After the cover was released, it made the internet rounds virally and was linked from popular sites such as msnbc.com, neatorama.com, geekology.com, and dlisted.com.

 

2005

 

Jeff McComsey - Illustration

 

The Fictory, an animation studio run by director Joseph W. Krzemienski, recently released the teaser trailer for the upcoming short featuring Red 5 Comics character, Atomic Robo. "Atomic Robo: Last Stop", an animated short film, is based on the award winning Atomic Robo graphic novels by Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener. Jeff McComsey is part of the project.

 

 

2004

 

Deanna Hogg Meyer - Illustration

 

Deanna's first children's book, "Buffalo on the Ridge", has been published. It was written and illustrated by Deanna. The book is an educational story for elementary age readers. It includes full page, full color illustrations which are bright and detailed.

2002

 

Kati Gegg - Graphic Design

 

On June 26-27, 2010, Kati Gegg participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Overnight, an 18-mile walk, from sunset to sunrise, to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention. Read the full article for more details.

2001

 

Michael McJilton - Fine Art

 

Michael was awarded a 1 year artists visa to live and work in Germany. One of his paintings, "Artist Studio," will be in the "Ausstellung Lucas Cranach Preis 2011" Competition in Kronach, Germany.
The show opens on July 2nd 2011 and runs to the 31st of October.

 

Unfortunately there isn't an English link! A rough translation reads:

 

"An expert jury selected work in four difficult passages of 112 artists and artists, who were invited, to deliver and/or send the originals in until 18 April 2011. Meanwhile, other artists were informed in writing about the decision of the jury. At the end of of April, the jury will determine the winners of the Lucas Cranach prize 2011, as well as winners of the special prizes. The Lucas Cranach prize is endowed with 5000 euros (Kulmbach Kronach gesponsert) from the savings bank, a special prize with 3000 euros (Kronach Frankenwald gesponsert) from the KIWANIS club, a special prize with 2000 euros (gesponsert of the RaiffeisenVolksbank Kronach Ludwigsstadt EEC) and a further special prize with 2000 euros (gesponsert from the district Kronach). Members of the jury: Mrs. Marlies Schmidt, foundation of Cranach yards registered association, Luther city Wittenberg, chief of the Cranach gallery; Annie Sziegoleit, 1st chairman of the art association yard registered association, Verlegerin, musicians, talking document urine; Gisela Gülpen, Kronach, authoress, (documentation of the work of the jury); Professor Horst Böhm Kronach, Professor for painting, drawing and diagram University of Darmstadt; Dr. Joachim Kruse, Coburg, director of the art collections of the Veste Coburg a.D.; Manfred Rothenberger, director of the institute for modern art, Nuremberg; Ralf Sziegoleit, yard, feuilleton editor of the FRANC POST OFFICE yard and Ingo Cesaro, writer, publisher, gallery owner, supervisor internally. Art and literature projects The publication of a catalog is intended. The organization of the Lucas Cranach prize of this year transferred Ingo Cesaro of the association „regional art promotion Kronach registered association “in close co-operation with the meeting enterprises of the Cranach city Kronach. The selection exhibition of the Lucas Cranach prize is on Saturday, 2 July 2011, at 11 o'clock, in the prince hall of the fortress Rosenberg in Kronach opens. The exhibition on two floors will be shown to at the end of October 2011.

Joanne Young Stephan - Communication Arts

 

Joanne is a graphic artist specializing in the lettering arts. Her calligraphy is combined with painting and drawing in many media to create unique works of art. Joanne's work has been accepted into many Juried Calligraphy and Art Shows, including the International Calligraphy Engagement Calendar, the Berks Art Alliance Annual Juried Show and the Philadelphia Calligraphers Society "Philadelphia Flourishes" juried show.

 

 

1997

 

Dennis Ryan - Fine Art

 

Dennis's paintings, some of which were completed in Dave Snyder's class, adorn the walls on The OCD Project on VH1 (June 2010).  "Three Faucets" was completed while Dennis was a student at PCA&D. Rafael Avila - Illustration

 

Rafael's drawings won the First Place Prize in Pastels for the 2011 Collection of Art Buzz, the Book.
 

  

Jessica Gieg - Graphic Design

 

Jessica was recently named art director at Godfrey. She was an interactive art director. Jessica also teaches part time here at PCA&D.
