"Summer Preview" is an exhibit of work by juniors and seniors in PCA&D's BFA degree programs: illustration, fine art, graphic design, and photography.

This body of work is quite strong and among the grouping, nine Fine Art majors are represented.

Here are some intriguing reflections by Fine Art majors about their work, which you can view in PCA&D's Main Gallery from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., M-F through August 2.

Doug Fay '15 transformed his image "30 different times. Each block is manipulated by minimizing and maximizing the pixels...I want people to look at it and feel welcome to enter it visually [and] come back multiple times to explore different areas of the print."

Jacqueline Willoughby '15 opened up new ways of doing her work. Her piece in the show "was done from a drawing done in the previous semester. I never thought about revisiting an old piece to make a new one...the technique presented a host of new challenges."  About her image, she hopes that "the viewer will be held for a moment and [be] carried through its composition."

Garrett Moore '15.  His work in the exhibit "acts as a test of honesty in drawing."  He hopes that "...viewers find a drawing that is enriched by its history of changes," that "...the entire image is felt" and one sees the "relationships between form [and] equality between the human figure and its environment."

Chalkley Matlack '14: "This body of work was more focused on personal development and I could let the intuitive process cruise. I came up with this idea to expand my experience in painting."

"Summer Preview" continues in our Main Gallery through August 2, when PCA&D is open until 9 p.m. for Lancaster's First Friday. Click here to visit the Main Gallery's web page.
