When juniors at PCA&D sign up for required internships prior to their senior year, they seek experiences that will advance their skills and allow them to be at the intersection of art and the business world.

Erik Espinosa '14, a photo major who is interning at Roy Cox Photography in Baltimore, Md., is experiencing all this, and more.

"I am learning [what] can only be taught outside of school, in the real world," writes Erik from his internship site this week. "Not only am I improving my skills as a photographer, I am also acquiring the necessary skills to help me to run a professional business. This internship has helped me greatly. It is the best thing I have ever done."

Erik is responsible for the management and maintenance of equipment, assisting the lead photographer during capture sessions, and post-production duties.

In photograph below, Erik is shown with Roy Cox, owner of the studio (image courtesy of Roy Cox Photography, via RCP Facebook page 7-17-13).
