Increment: Glenn Goldberg, Duncan Johnson and Ron Klein
December 3, 2010 - January 14, 2011
In the upcoming exhibition, Increment, artists Glenn Goldberg, Duncan Johnson and Ron Klein explore how the artist’s mark is made, repeated, measured and varied. The tactile quality of materials used by each artist unifies the range of media in this exhibit. Goldberg paints his marks on paper and canvas in a manner which is repetitive, yet nuanced, rich colors are woven into imagery of birds, mandalas and men. Jonhson reclaims wood, saving strips of the original patina, which he composes into painting/collage/sculptures punctuated by the mark of tiny silver nail heads. Klein scours the earth, gathering pods, husks and other remnants of nature that he manipulates in the studio so they may become constellation-like gallery installations.
