Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania selected a design by PCA&D's Jessica Messerschmidt '13 (graphic design major) to be used for promoting their gala fundraiser in March 2013. Jessica's work will appear on postcards and posters publicizing the event.
Jessica also created the labels for Tulpy Pickles, a new start-up based in Berks County, Pa. The entire "Advanced Packaging" class, under the tutelage of Tom Newmaster, did competitive research, developed logos, designed labels, and pulled it all together in a final presentation. Jessica's winning label design should be on store shelves in the spring.

Photo department news update (3-19-13):
Photography major Leawna Burek '14 has been chosen to receive the spring 2013 "Supplies Grant" from Shades of Paper, a new Jersey-based supplier of digital printers and fine digital papers. In order to be considered, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit examples of work with a written statement about his or her work.
At PCA&D, professional internships are required of our rising seniors prior to graduation. This summer, photography major Maggie Rudisill '14 will be interning with Jared Soares, an independent documentary photographer based in Washington, D.C. who divides his time between clients (such as Bloomberg Businessweek, PBS NewsHour, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Wired) and self-initiated projects that explore the relationship between community and identity.
