I'm a fine artist and would like to learn how to paint murals. How do I get started?
Pennsylvania College of Art & Design offers a Mural Painting Certificate Program. Students take two 1-credit courses - one in Methods & Materials, one in Mural Painting, and a 1-day workshop that's loaded with valuable information on organizing a community-based mural project. How much does a mural cost?
This depends on the size and level of detail and is usually calculated based on square footage (estimated range of $35-$75 per sq. ft.), some muralists calculate a daily rate (estimated range of $500-$600 per day). Other factors involved in calculating the cost include the use of scaffolding, wall preparation, interior or exterior, access to site, and travel expenses for the muralist. A professional muralist will be able to give you an estimate based on the specifications of the project.

How long does it take to complete a mural project?
Generally murals take anywhere from 2 to 4 months to complete. The process includes: time to design, make changes, and approve a final sketch before the mural execution. The time frame for exterior murals is also dependent on weather conditions.

While the types of paint and manufacturers used varies per artist, here are
