Transfer Students

How to transfer to Pennsylvania College of Art & Design

The college considers any applicant who has been enrolled in a college-level program of study after high school to be a transfer applicant. Transfer students should apply well in advance of the semester in which they plan to enroll.

Transfer Application Requirements

The application process for transfer students is the same as the process for first-time students with the exception that transfer applicants must forward official transcripts from all colleges attended. Applicants should include a listing of any courses in which they are currently enrolled or intend to complete prior to matriculation at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. To aid in the assessment of transfer credits, course descriptions should be sent to our Admissions Office. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for transfer applicants.

Transfer portfolios should refelct the level of art training they have already received. The quality of work can influence the level at which they can begin their studies at the college.

Transfer of Credit

Students may receive credit for coursework taken at other accredited institutions that are relevant to our BFA degree program, and course content. A minimum grade of C is required for consideration for transfer. Only credits are transferable, not grades.

Residency Requirements

Transfer students are required to complete a minimum of 60 credits in residence. Transferable credits will be applied only to the specific studio and liberal arts requirements stipulated for a Pennsylvania College of Art & Design degree. Transfer students will work in consultation with our Dean in evaluating transfer credits.
